Daav Thai Gayo Yaar 2016 poster

Three friends who pride themselves on fixing everyone else's problems find their luck turning when a personal tangle spirals out of control. Their well meaning meddling lands them in a mess that grows harder to escape. The comedy follows their scramble to set things right without making them worse.

Daav Thai Gayo Yaar is a friendship comedy that knows its lane and stays in it. Dushyant V Patel builds the film around three friends who fancy themselves fixers, the sort who solve everyone's problems until one personal tangle drags their meddling into a full blown mess. The premise is old but reliable, and the film uses it to keep the three leads bouncing off each other.

Mayur Chauhan, Khushbu Padiyar, Maulika Patel and Mitra Gadhvi carry the buddy energy, and Parth Bharat Thakkar's soundtrack keeps the mood peppy through the scramble. This was one of many mid decade urban Gujarati comedies riding the language's small screen revival, aimed at a young audience out for a light evening rather than anything demanding. On that level it delivers a few honest laughs and a warm read on friendship.

The limits are the ones you expect from the format. The humour is hit and miss, the plot mess untangles a little too conveniently, and there is not much here that lingers past the credits. Critics largely let it pass without comment, and the modest 6.4 audience score on IMDb reads about right for a film built for a single easy watch. Come to it for the company of its trio and the breezy tone, not for surprise.
