Mijaaj arrived in January 2018 as a mainstream Gujarati action drama, and it wears that label plainly. Director Tapan Vyas builds the film around three young friends, Jay, Jahnvi and Yogesh, who get pulled into a property war when a multinational sets its sights on India Lodge, the old heritage building run by Sarita Ben. The lodge shelters people from every walk of life, so when a local goon teams up with the corporation to force the residents out, the trio turn the fight into a personal mission.
Malhar Thakar, one of the faces of the post-2016 Gujarati revival, anchors the film as Jay, with Esha Kansara and Revanta Sarabhai rounding out the central three and Chhaya Vora lending weight as the matriarch whose home is at stake. Reviewers at the time, including Newsfolo's Pallavi Parmar, framed it as a full family entertainer and singled out the action set pieces and the cinematography as the stronger craft on show. Meghdhanush handle the music, with lyrics by Priya Saraiya, and the soundtrack sits comfortably inside the commercial mould rather than pushing against it.
