Sanghavi and Sons is old-fashioned family drama done at scale. Chandresh Bhatt builds his film around Navneetrai Sanghavi, a patriarch who holds a large joint family together like beads on a single thread, and the sons and daughter-in-law whose bonds fray when trouble arrives. It is a familiar shape for Gujarati cinema, but the film leans into that tradition with conviction rather than apologising for it.
The draw is the cast. Veteran Manoj Joshi anchors the film with easy authority as the patriarch, and the project marks television star Hiten Tejwani's Gujarati debut as elder son Asmit, a piece of casting the makers built much of their promotion around. Komal Thacker and Gaurav Paswala fill out the family, a Kedar and Bhargav score keeps the wedding-and-festival texture alive, and the production shoots handsome locations from Ahmedabad to Madhavpur and Vrindavan. Tejwani has spoken about the effort it took to speak Gujarati fluently for the role, and that care shows in a performance that never feels like a guest turn.
At two hours and thirty-eight minutes it is a long sit, and the beats around sacrifice and reconciliation are ones seasoned viewers will see coming well in advance. The sprawling ensemble means some family members register as little more than names, and the melodrama is laid on thick in the final act. Box office was modest at roughly 1.84 crore, but a 7.6 on IMDb suggests the target audience got exactly the warm, values-driven story it wanted. If multigenerational family sagas are your comfort zone, Sanghavi and Sons delivers them sincerely, with a cast strong enough to sell even the well-worn turns.
