Udan Chhoo takes a premise most Gujarati family films would run from and plays it straight for laughs and feeling. Two middle-aged in-laws fall for each other in the middle of their children's wedding preparations, then slip away from the ceremony itself. Anish Shah, who also co-wrote and co-produced, keeps the tone light without letting the emotion go thin, and the idea reportedly grew out of a real elopement reported in Surat in 2022.
The draw here is the casting. Deven Bhojani, a familiar television face, makes his Gujarati film debut and anchors the picture with easy comic timing, while Prachee Shah Paandya, in only her second Gujarati outing, matches him beat for beat. Aarohi Patel and Aarjav Trivedi handle the younger couple whose wedding sets the whole thing in motion. Siddharth Amit Bhavsar's score and Bhargav Purohit's lyrics carry the softer stretches, with Antar Mann doing much of the emotional lifting.
Kanksha Vasavada of the Times of India gave it four out of five, singling out the direction, the script, the dialogue, the performances and the music. VTV Gujarati was similarly warm, praising how the film threads comedy through a genuinely tricky situation. The box office told a quieter story, with roughly 1.09 crore across the opening six days, a modest run for a film this well received. That gap between reviews and returns is the honest headline: Udan Chhoo is a smartly made, good-natured comedy that deserved a bigger crowd than it found. Worth a watch for the writing and the two leads alone.
